What is Pain Killer Medicines?

Pain killer medicine, also known as analgesics, are used to treat a variety of conditions that cause pain, including: Headaches, Muscle soreness, Arthritis, Menstrual cramps, Back pain, Injuries, and Cancer. There are many different types of pain killers, and each has its own advantages and risks. Pain killer medicines used to relieve severe pain in people who are expected to need pain medication around the clock for a long time and who cannot be treated with other medications.

Types Of Medicines

(1) Opioids

These prescription medications are powerful and can be addictive. Examples include codeine, fentanyl, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, morphine, oxycodone, and tramadol.

(2) Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)

These over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription medications reduce swelling that can worsen pain. Examples include aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), and naproxen (Aleve).

(3) Acetaminophen (Tylenol)

This OTC medication is used to treat mild to moderate pain.

(4)Antidepressants

These medications are used to treat chronic headaches, fibromyalgia, and neuropathic pain.

(5) Anti-seizure medications

These medications are used to treat diabetic neuropathy, fibromyalgia, and postherpetic neuralgia. Local anesthetics These medications numb a part of the body and cause short-term loss of feeling. Examples include lidocaine and bupivacaine.

(6) Corticosteroids

These prescription medications are used to treat inflamed areas of the body. They can be used to treat arthritis, asthma, and allergies.
